Electric Co-Op Set for Fiber Network Build-Out

Central Virginia Electric Cooperative LogoMaking use of its smart grid technology, Central Virginia Electric Cooperative has set out to bring fiber Internet services to its members in approximately 14 Virginia counties. With an estimated cost of around $100 million, the fiber network build-out will usher in a completely new infrastructure to benefit the scope of the project while also making use of existing infrastructure. Nearly 5,000 miles of fiber optic cable is expected to be installed over the next five years according to plan projections.
