Fiber Optic Broadband Project Gets the Green Light

fiber broadband Westfield Gas & Electric is set to begin construction for a fiber optic broadband project with the town of New Salem, Massachusetts. The project, which has been a decade in the making, was recently finalized and the development phases of the design for the network will begin soon. WG&E will have to work with a clean slate as the city does not currently have a wired infrastructure for Internet.

With an estimated cost of nearly $2 million, New Salem has already received $350,000 of a $750,000 grant from the state Office of Housing and Economic Development.
