The company offers a Security Operations Center as a Service (SOCaS) that meets the strict cybersecurity requirements subgrantees must have in place to qualify for BEAD funding from their state.
Alpharetta, GA – October 11, 2023 – ZCorum, a leading provider of managed broadband services and software, recently announced the launch of CyberZCurity, a hosted and managed cybersecurity solution for broadband providers to guard against escalating cyber threats. The timing for the company is good. States who will be receiving funds from the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program (BEAD) must require their subgrantees to have a cybersecurity risk management plan in place prior to offering service on the funded network.
The BEAD program is by far the most money that has ever been allocated to improve broadband access in unserved and underserved areas. To help protect that investment and the security of the funded networks, BEAD requires strict cybersecurity requirements and supply chain attestations that adhere to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity. The NIST Framework is structured around five core functions: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover.
“The inclusion of NIST-compliant cybersecurity for BEAD funding is important, but it can be a daunting and complicated process for most service providers,” said Carlos Bustamante, ZCorum’s Vice President of Strategic Technologies. “We have the experts available to assist fund recipients in creating their cybersecurity plan and identifying the internal policies they will need for full compliance. We then ensure that operators successfully meet their cybersecurity plan via an advanced, multi-layered threat detection and response offering that includes a fully managed, cloud-based Security Operations Center (SOC), plus actively monitored Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR).
“Our CyberZCurity solution will play a pivotal role in addressing the requirements outlined by NIST but goes above and beyond to provide a suite of solutions to safeguard data and networks,” remarked Julie Compann, ZCorum’s President and CEO. “We’re helping operators confidently navigate the extensive cybersecurity requirements in BEAD, while protecting their business from the ever-evolving threat landscape.”
