Move your Access Equipment Closer to the Subscriber
Whether you are providing broadband service over a Fiber or HFC network, delivering that fiber access closer to your subscribers provides many advantages over a centralized termination system located in a headend or central office. CommScope offers innovative Remote OLT and Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) solutions designed to increase bandwidth capacity and fiber efficiency, while reducing space and power requirements.
CommScope solutions are also perfect for cable operators who are upgrading their DOCSIS cable plant, or for selectively deploying fiber to certain areas or to specific subscribers. With these industry-leading products from CommScope we will help you ensure that your network is both scalable and future-ready. Whether you are expanding your fiber infrastructure or extending your HFC network with DAA, we provide the expertise, equipment and engineering services that allow you to extend services quickly and efficiently to your customers.
Remote OLTs
CommScope Remote OLTs deliver high-performance broadband services with optimized deployment flexibility. These solutions support long-range and flexible fiber access, allowing you to reach more customers with fewer resources.
What’s Available?
- GPON: Provides asymmetrical service up to 1 Gbps downstream.
- XGS-PON: Provides up to 10 Gigabit symmetrical service.
- EPON: Provides 1 Gig and 10 Gig symmetrical service, and 10G/1G asymmetrical service, with DOCSIS back-office compatibility.
What are the Benefits?
- Increases flexibility in FTTH network design. Support for up two GPON, XGS-PON, or Combo PON interfaces delivering both GPON and XGS-PON simultaneously.
- Perfect for serving rural areas, neighborhoods and Multi-Dwelling Units.
- Moves the OLT functionality to remote node/VHub platforms, bringing the network access point closer to the subscriber, and saving floor space, power, and overhead.
- Deploying CommScope EPON eases the transition from DOCSIS to Fiber:
- CommScope EPON modules can be installed in existing ARRIS NH2, NH4 VHub/UVHub, and NC4 HFC Node platforms.
- ARRIS’s OLT Manager allows for drop-in compatibility with existing DOCSIS OSS back-office systems through DPoE provisioning.
- ARRIS OLT Manager also supports collecting diagnostics from Fiber CPE via DOCSIS diagnostic tools like TruVizion, and IPDR collection for bandwidth usage management applications like Bandwidth Commander.
Distributed Access Architecture (DAA):
Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) moves portions of the functionality of a CMTS closer to the customer. These solutions allow you to expand network capacity, reduce headend load, and improve operational efficiency by moving the digital portion of the network all the way to the node.
What’s Available?
- Remote PHY: Moves the Physical layer functionality out of the headend through a Remote PHY Device module (RPD) placed in a fiber node.
- Remote MAC-PHY: Moves both the Media Access Control and Physical layer functionalities out of the headend through a Remote MAC-PHY Device module (RMD) placed in a fiber node. Remote MAC-Phy is essentially a small CMTS in the field in an RMD format.
What are the Benefits?
- Flexible: Supports both Remote MAC-PHY and Remote PHY in the same module, providing maximum flexibility in extending your HFC infrastructure with DAA.
- Scalable: Easily upgrade your portions of your existing network to meet growing customer demands.
- Increased Performance: Increased bandwidth capacity and greater fiber efficiencies (wavelengths and distance).
- Cost-Effective: Maximize your return on investment by leveraging existing infrastructure with minimal disruptions. Improve headend density and power efficiency.
- Future-Proof: Stay ahead of the curve with DOCSIS 3.1 compliance and the flexibility to integrate with next-generation technologies.
