TruVizion: DOCSIS Modules and Features

TruVizion DOCSIS Product Sheet Thumbnail RevisedCMTS Diagnostics Screen

The CMTS Diagnostics screen gives a summary view of the health of the CMTS on a single screen. Color-coded bars show the highest priority issues regarding RF levels, bandwidth utilization, SNR, modem status and codeword errors. One click drills into lists of subscriber devices experiencing similar issues. One more click plots those devices on a map. Click on a channel descriptor to chart the data over time, from 24 hours to 90 days.

Cable Modem Diagnostics Screen

On the ONT Screen you can see detailed metrics on the subscriber’s device, including the online status, flaps, signal quality and codeword errors on all upstream and downstream channels. One click charts RF Levels and codeword errors for that device over time from 24 hours to 90 days. A map shows you where the device is located and you can click to expand the map to full size to see other devices. Map pins are color-coded to indicate any alert levels. You can filter the devices that appear on the map by, including devices that are off-line (really helpful when finding and fixing an outage), modems that are having a specific RF issue, cable modem vendor and model, node and active leg. Click any pin on the map to see the summary RF data for that modem and click again to pull up the full Cable Modem Diagnostics Screen for that subscriber.

OFDM/A Tab

The OFDM/A Tab shows you details and metrics specific to a subscriber device on OFDM and OFDMA channels on your cable plant. Some of the details on the screen include:

  • PLC Frequency and Power
  • Utilization
  • Modulation Type
  • Number of Pilots and Active Subcarriers
  • Upper and Lower Bound DS Frequencies
  • RX MER Mean, Standard Deviation and Threshold

You also see charts displaying Downstream Receive Power each 6 MHz slice of the OFDM/A channel, Bandwidth Use by Profile over time from 24 hours to 90 days, and Correctable and Uncorrectable Codeword Errors by prodfile.

VoIP Tab

See and resolve common issues affecting VoIP customers, including hook status, battery state/charge and the MOS scores for the last ten calls. You can also drill-in for additional RF stats on the last 10 calls, or run a Loop Diagnostics test to check the customer’s inside wiring.

An EMTA MOS report lists all calls that had one or more bad MOS scores, which would indicate an issue with call quality, and the SNR, packet loss and delay at the time of the call to help with troubleshooting the reason for the poor call quality. The report also lists any devices that have a battery issue or that had a problem communicating with the CMTS.

WiFi Tab

50% or more of the complaints subscribers have about slow broadband service are actually related to their home WiFi network. TruVizion collects statistics from cable modems that have an embedded Access Point and presents the information on a diagnostics screen. You can see the channel the radio is tuned, its performance, and the transmit and receive levels for each connected device. You can drill-in to plot this data over the last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. If you are troubleshooting with a customer on the phone, you can stream the performance data live as a customer changes the location of their connected device or the location or orientation of the access point. The support rep can handle common requests that normally would take a lot of time if they have to guide the user through the steps, such as changing the channel the device is transmitting on, the subscriber’s password or SSID name.

A WiFi Report shows you all devices with WiFi access points, the average number of clients, average RSSI, average speed up and down of the connected clients, and the individual RSSI and speeds for each client.

Spectrum Tab

TruVizion has a spectrum module that displays the spectrum for all data and video channels passing through a cable modem or a set-top box that supports full band capture. It’s like having a meter on your desk or mobile device that lets you remotely view live downstream spectrum passing through one or more modems at the subscriber locations.

Power Supply Tab

TruVizion can also monitor and report performance statistics for your Power Supplies, including status and RF Performance stats on the Upstream and Downstream channels.
